It probably comes as no surprise that many of the visitors to The Narrowboat have an interest in the canal.

There is still a fascination about canals as can be seen when walkers along the towpath stop to watch a barge going through a lock.

Canal travel seems more popular than ever and includes those taking canal holidays and those who still ply their trade today transporting goods by barge.

Some refer to a canal boat as a narrowboat, others as narrow boats and of course we must not forget as a barge.

When the festival of boats is in town we witness just how popular a pastime our inland waterways are and that includes those sitting on the towpath for a day’s fishing.
